An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a given Internet site. Any file that was requested for whatever reason will be listed, so if you have a single page with 3 embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for any of the 6 files that were accessed when the site visitor opened the page. A log typically provides the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s Operating System, Internet browser and IP address. Oftentimes you can also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the performance of a website, independent of the web stats your web hosting server may have produced.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel features a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. As you sign in to your cloud website hosting account and navigate to this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains which you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to every domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you will see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and view it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect right away, so if you no longer need one, you'll be able to stop it with a mouse click from the very same section of the CP. You shall still be able to access the already generated content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our advanced hosting platform shall create access logs for any website hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, assuming that this feature is enabled. All domain names and subdomains that you have shall be listed in the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which we supply with all of the accounts, so if you want our system to start creating logs for any of them, you should just click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You can stop this feature whenever you want by following the same steps. You will find a Download link for each and every log inside the same section of the Control Panel, so you may save the content generated by our system in .txt format with simply a click. An existing log file can be downloaded even after the option has been deactivated, so you will still be able to see the data that has already been generated.
